Salsa Sorensen Association Announces 2025 Grant Recipients – Over $23,000 Back to Local Community
The Salsa Sorensen Association is proud to announce the successful recipients of our 2025 community grants, with a total of $23,438.50 awarded to seven incredible local organisations doing important work across the Douglas Shire.
This year saw a record 16 applications totalling $55,766.60 – the highest number of requests in our history. It’s clear the word is spreading that Salsa Sorensen is here for the community, and we’re so grateful to everyone who helps make this possible.

We’re absolutely thrilled to announce the following recipients of the 2025 grants:

RSL Mossman – to supply and install air-conditioning systems in the Diggers Cottages and upgrade lighting in the meeting hall.

Douglas Heat Basketball Association – for the installation of four new adjustable backboards.

OzCare Port Douglas – to establish a Memory Garden for the Dementia Locked Wing.

Port Shorts Film Festival – to purchase multimedia equipment, enabling access for young people without equipment of their own.

Mossman State High School P&C – to acquire new musical instruments.

Douglas Shire Meals on Wheels – to enhance office functionality and digitise administration.

Port Douglas C&K – to create a Cultural Experience and Bush Tucker Garden for young children.
Funds will be presented during the Brian Sorensen Cup on Sunday 17 August at Palmer Sea Reef Golf Club.
But we’re not done yet. The next major announcement will come following the Next Green Group Wine Lunch at Salsa Bar & Grill on Friday 15th August, with all proceeds from that event going directly to Mossman Support Services.
